I didn't

It was supposed to be a tick off the bucket list. One dive off Cairns, and the list stopped mattering. I moved from Melbourne to Cairns. Permanently.

I built a business instead of taking a job - one that could buy back the time and money to dive. Three years in Cairns. Course after course. Somewhere in there, underwater photography became its own obsession.

Then came a three year world tour, chasing the best diving the world had to offer. Technical diving. Cave diving. Rebreathers.

Indonesia is where I fell hardest. I first dove a reef there in 2022 - alive, loud, full of colour. I went back. It was bleached, silent, empty.

I couldn't unsee it. What began as exploration became a responsibility.

I came home - not to leave the ocean behind, but to build something that could help protect what I had fallen in love with.

Why the Ocean

It cannot speak for itself.

No shareholders. No quarterly earnings. No seat at the table where its future is decided. That is part of why I photograph it. So it has, at least, a witness. So I built Ocean Evoke.

Ocean Conservation Social Enterprise

People protect what they have fallen in love with. They fall in love first, then take responsibility - in that order, every time. I couldn't find a brand that spoke about the ocean without making people feel guilty. So I built one on the opposite premise.
